Introduction

The Republic of Benin is a former French colony. It is a West African country that has borders with such nations as Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger. Interestingly, most of its population lives near the coast of the Bight of Benin.  In 2019, it had a population of almost 12 million people.

As a result of their land coverage of 114,000 square kilometers, it gives them moderate density at the level of 95 people per square kilometer. However, because of its very low GDP (PPP) estimated to be at around $30 billion, its per capita number is one of the smallest values - $2,500.
