The West African nation of Burkina Faso is one of the smallest and one of the poorest nations in the entire world. It was previously known as the Republic of Upper Volta. The land covers an area of aprpoximately 264,200 square kilometers and it is bordered by such nations as Mali, Niger, Bening, Togo, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast.

In 2020, the population of the nation was roughly 21.5 million people. As a result of that, the density is below average at the level of 64 people per square kilometer. In terms of economy, their GDP (PPP included) is at $45.3 billion
