Introduction

The Republic of Burundi is a former colony of France, which is situated in the Great Rift Valley. It is a region of the African Great Lakes and East Africa. Bordered by Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, it is one of the smallest nations in the region with the land coverage of 27,000 square kilometers.

Burundi's economy is incredibly low. Their total GDP (PPP factor included) is at around $8.3 billion. Though it seems like a lot, their total population was estimated to be at around 12 million in 2020. As a result, their GDP per capita is one of the lowest, if not the lowest, in the entire world. Its value is roughly $730.
