Introduction

The Gambia is located in western Africa. It is by far the smallest country within the mainland of the black continent. Senegal is the only neighbour of the Republic of The Gambia since it surrounds the nation.

In 2020, the population of the Gambia was estimated to be at around 2.175 million. However, due to its very small land area of 10,689 square kilometers, this is a quite densely populated republic. As far as the economy is concerned, the same data shows total GDP (PPP) at around $5.42 billion, which is $2,240 of GDP per capita.
