Introduction

In the northern part of mainland South America there is Guyana. Georgetown is its capital city. With the official name the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, it is one of the smallest nations in South America - only after Uruguay and Suriname.

The population of Guyana is at the level of 790,000. As a result of that, this is the second least populous nation in South America. However, because of its incredibly small land coverage, it has quite large density. The total GDP (PPP) of the nation is at the level of $13.6 billion, which means their GDP per capita is $17.359, higher than the average for South America.
