Japan
Introduction
Japan is the country located in East Asia and it is known as an island country. The land of this country consists of more than 6850 islands. The five main ones are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. Most of the people live there. In terms of largest cities, then we have the capital of Japan - Tokyo. After that, the largest ones are Yokohama, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Kobe, and Kyoto.
In terms of government, they are unitary dominant-party parliamentary constitutional monarchy. Their emperor is Naruhito and the prime minister of the nation is Yoshihide Suga. Japan is considered to be one of the most powerful nations in the world due to their economy and large military, the second largest in Asia.
Economy
In terms of GDP, Japan is the fifth largest economy in the world with the value of $5.5 trillion, according to 2019 data provided by the World Bank. However, it is one of those developed countries that haven’t recorded large growths in the last several years. In 2019, the GDP grew by 0,6% of their GDP, which is an incredibly low number when compared to European (1.5%) or worldwide (2.3%) standards.
GDP per capita (with PPP factor taken into account) is the best way to evaluate the wealthiness of the average citizen in a given country. In this particular manner, Japan is very close to European’s standards because their GDP per capita is $43,200. As in the case of general GDP growth, Japan hasn’t recorded larger GDP per capita increases in 2019, because it was around 0.8%.
It is important to remember about exports and imports since there are many brands that provide their goods and services worldwide. Japan has exports valued at around $0.9 trillion, which is about 18% of their general Gross Domestic Product. In terms of imports, it is also around $0.9 trillion, an 18% of their GDP. However, these two particular estimations come from 2018.
Population
With around 125 million people living in Japan, the nation is 11th in the general population rankings. However, because of its rather small total land coverage (378,000 and 61st place worldwide), their density is rather large because it is 334 Japanese per square kilometer. It makes Japan the 24th most densely populated country in the world.
