Introduction

Officially known as the State of Libya, the nation is located in the northern part of Africa, in the Maghreb region. It borders Sudan, Chad, Algeria, Niger, Tunisia, and Egypt. This is the fourth largest country in Africa thanks to its enormous land coverage of 1.8 million square kilometers. It is also the 16th largest nation worldwide.

With a population of roughly 7 million people, Libya is one of the most sparsely populated nations in the world with only 3.74 people per square kilometer. Sadly, its GDP (PPP) is also very small ($31.5 billion). Because of that, its GDP per capita is at the average level for most of the African countries, namely $4,746.
