Introduction
Officially known as the Portugese Republic, the nation is located on the Iberian Peninsula in soutwestern part of Europe. As a result of its position, it is considered the westernmost sovereign state in Mainland Europe. The only sharing border they have (besides the enormous coastline with the Atlantic Ocean) is with Spain. The capital and largest city in Portugal is Lisbon. It is important to notice that it is one of the oldest nations in Europe.

Although Portugal was one of the world's major economic, political, and military powers in the 15th and 16th centuries, nowadays they are moderately successful. Their GDP is estimated to be at $376 billion, which places them between Denmark and Portugal.
