Introduction

Tonga, also known as the Kingdom of Tonga, is a Polynesian country and archipelago which consists of 169 islands. Only 36 of them are inhabited. The total size of this unique archipelago comes to about 750 square kilometres. Its entire population equals 100,651 people. Interestingly, around 70% of all the inhabitants reside on Tongatapu which is the main island. There are two major languages spoken which are English and Tongan.

According to 2019 data, the total number of GDP (PPP) amounts to $655 million which gives us about $6,496 of GDP per capita. In Tonga, the majority of employment is provided by agriculture and forestry sectors.
