Officially known as the Portugese Republic, the nation is located on the Iberian Peninsula in soutwestern part of Europe. As a result of its position, it is considered the westernmost sovereign state in Mainland Europe. The only sharing border they have (besides the enormous coastline with the Atlantic Ocean) is with Spain. The capital and largest city in Portugal is Lisbon. It’s located in East Africa within the region of the African Great Lakes. It is bordered by Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burundi as well as the Democratic Republic of the Congo. To the east, it is surrounded by the Comoro Islands and the Indian Ocean.
