Introduction

Myanmar is also known as Burma. However, its official naming is the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It is a nation placed in the region of Southeast Asia. Their neighbors are Bangladesh, India, China, Laos, and Thailand. Interestingly, the land coverage of the republic is quite large with the total area of 676,500 square kilometers.

Economy

Information collected in 2019 indicates that the GDP of Myanmar (with PPP included) is at $290 billion. As a result, it is one of the lowest GDP values in the surrounding nations (excluding Lao PDR).  In terms of GDP per capita, the numbers are definitely even worse. The value of $5,360 places them at the bottom of the worldwide rankings. One of the only nations that has lower GDP per capita in the region is Bangladesh

Population

As of 2019, the entire population of Myanmar is estimated at around 54 million citizens. Although it seems quite large when compared to other nations. We need to remember about its close neighbors such as India that is the second most populated nation in the world or Bangladesh with 8th place and 163 million residents.
