World map with selected countries highlighted.
The nation of the Philippines is located in the western Pacific Ocean and it is considered an archipelagic country. There are more than 7,600 islands owned by the republic. However, in most cases they are divided into three main geographical divisions, namely Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The land coverage of 300,000 square kilometers is relatively low, especially if we take into account its large population. A gigantic number of recognized regional languages (up to 19) makes this place very diverse and, as a result, with two official languages - English and Filippino. More about Philippines Previously known as Western Samoa, the Independent State of Samoa is an island country located in the subregion of Oceania, namely Polynesia. With two main islands as well as several other inhabited ones, its total land area is approximately 2,840 square kilometers.  More about Samoa
